Indoor Hammocks

Since my brother was a little boy, whenever we went into a garden furniture store, Indoor furniture, even bedroom furniture store, he would always seek out the hammocks. From the moment he located them in a store, he would look up at my parents and the begging and pleading would begin. It wasn’t only the outdoor hammocks that appealed to him either, oh no, it was absolutely every kind, whether they were hammock chairs or a hammock swing. But he really wanted an indoor hammock for his bedroom.

I have to admit that I rather wanted a hammock chair for my bedroom. However, my parents stood firm, told us that we didn’t need them and very sadly, we never got any kind of hammock at all. In typical parent fashion, they cunningly suggested that we try making hammocks instead of wasting money and buying them. Well that just did not work… it turned out that we really were not the creative type and we got soon got bored and forgot all about our passion for hammocks.

making hammocksWhen my sister moved out of home and got her cats, well truly they were like surrogate children to her and she spoiled them rotten and still does to this day. Typically, my sister was therefore the one to discover the pet store that sold bizarre cat hammocks. So, the cats that wanted for nothing then got something that my brother and I had been after for the past fifteen years or so, it seems ridiculous to be jealous of cats but it just goes to show how much we wanted hammocks for ourselves.

There are actually many other different and wacky types of hammock out there on the market but without doubt, the cutest (and the cheapest) are the toy hammocks, where you can sit all your cuddly toys, or even use them for your pet rats or ferrets, which also like to chill out in hammocks. I have also heard a friend of mine trying to describe her hammock tent but as I have still yet to see one of these I have trouble imagining how these would work, where you would sit or lay for instance and if it just means a normal hammock with a roof. I have no doubt that these questions will plague me and will no doubt lead me to investigating a bit more.

As odd as it might seem, more and more people these days are using indoor hammocks to aid their physical therapy sessions. Although I have not yet needed physical therapy, I think that if I ever do, a hammock may be an absolute necessity. It is after all a great excuse to buy one and a hammock swing would after all look very stunning in the corner of my living room, although it may not be very practical, at the end of the day it would look so unique and very groovy!
